Converging Paths: An Odyssey of Grief, Grace, & Earth's Mythos
This year, I completed my twenty-year apprenticeship with the sacred island of Maui, a journey ignited from a dream. Maui has infused me with something I can't exactly put words to, but it's become a part of my anatomy, a part of my spirit, influencing how I navigate my life.
I love tracking cycles and patterns, seeing what lies behind the obvious – it's sorta my thing. As I stepped into this new year, I was keenly aware that I was venturing into uncharted territories.
Apprenticing with the afterlife these last nineteen months has taught me so much, about living life in a way that finds grace on the other side – and honestly, so much more. It was the tragic passing of my beloved kitty, Titan, that initiated another sacred apprenticeship for me, this time with Grief & Grace.
For me, holding the understanding in my heart that I'm not trying to reach an end but rather walking with the learning, the process, the ups and downs of teaching life Grief – something that will honestly never go away, it just changes – helps me to be in a right way with the teachings. I don't feel called to change it, to rush it; rather, I'm in presence with it, I receive it as it is meant to be received.
Through the BIG initiations of the last couple of years, I'm preparing to embark on a journey to apprentice with the Mythos of Earth, wandering through many magical places throughout Europe. And with light, through photography.
Along the path of this grand journey, I envision myself capturing the essence of Earth's diverse landscapes and cultures, intertwining the art of photography with the deep spiritual practice I've honed over two decades. My camera, not just a tool but a sacred object, will serve as a bridge between the seen and the unseen, the manifest and the mystical.
As I traverse ancient lands, from the verdant hills of Ireland to the sun-kissed shores of Greece, from the rugged beauty of Scotland to the mystical sands of Morocco, I seek to immerse myself in the stories and spirits of each place. This pilgrimage is not merely about sightseeing; it's a quest to connect with the Earth's ancient wisdom, to learn from its mythos, and to bring back insights that can help others see the world through a lens of wonder and reverence.
In each location, I plan to hold space for ceremonies—both personal and communal—drawing upon the energy of the land and the collective spirit of those who join me. These ceremonies will be moments of connection, healing, and inspiration, grounded in the local traditions and wisdom that have been passed down through generations.
Through my photography, I aim to share not just images, but stories; not just moments, but emotions. Each photograph will be a testament to the journey of learning and transformation, a snapshot of the interplay between light and shadow, grief and grace, that defines our human experience.
This is more than a travelogue; it's an invitation to explore the depths of our connection to the Earth and to each other. As I document this journey, I hope to inspire others to embark on their own pilgrimages, to find the sacred in the everyday, and to see the world with eyes wide open to the magic that surrounds us.
Let this journey be a beacon for those yearning for adventure, for meaning, for a deeper connection to the world and their own inner landscapes. Together, let's discover the stories the Earth is eager to tell us, through the lens of wonder, respect, and a profound sense of belonging to this vast, beautiful tapestry of life.
