Maui Fires
Thank you to all who keep checking in on me.
I am safe, my home was just out of the evacuation zone for the Kula fires.
I have power back and water.
So many folks are without a home, so many lives lost, our community is devastated.
If you are able please check my stories for places to donate, people to support and to stay attuned to what’s happening here.
If you are planning to come to Hawaii, please reconsider. We need our resources for the people who live here.
We are a small island with limited resources..
I am grateful for your check ins and I am not able to reply personally to all of them at this time.
I am grateful I am able to allow myself feeling all the layers of emotions inspired by this catastrophe.
Prayers for our beautiful community.
If you wonder how to best support those through grief…
When someone is grieving,
please let the person feel the loss…
Don’t try to turn the narrative into a positive without letting them feel the pain of what they are feeling…
Instead…
listen…
soften your heart…
be present with them…
there is nothing to fix…
they aren’t broken…
they are feeling…
allow them to feel…
Please don’t make their pain about you or your past experiences…
Please just witness them in the experience they are inside of…
And allow them to feel all the layers that are there…
