The Magic of Sacred Blood Rituals
Your blood is powerful…
Blood Rituals are an incredible way to tap into the magic of your menstrual blood and cycle from a place of power.
Ritualistically, your womb blood is understood in the esoteric mystery schools as a sacrifice (etymologically “a making sacred,” from sacra, “sacred rites”).
Since your previous bleed, what you’ve experienced, eaten, heard, and spoken, as well as all the behaviors and patterns you’ve taken part in, are shed through your monthly blood offering. Knowing this, you can clarify what you no longer need to carry, and intentionally release it in a menstrual blood ritual.
Through your blood, you have the opportunity to honor both life and death. Your menstrual blood is the shedding of your endometrial lining because you are not pregnant, and is in some ways a shedding of life unclaimed as you also shed the unfertilized egg.
Healthy blood can be used for blood magic, rituals, manifesting, clarifying your desires, amplifying your dreams, healing, and binding spiritual agreements.
Your blood is powerful. It is medicine, full of stem cells, and it holds your DNA. It also holds within it the blood of your ancestors. It is Shakti, it is Lifeforce Energy.
Holding reverence for this sacred process of creating blood rituals begins with the Art of Listening. Through listening you step into a receptive place within yourself, so you can hear messages and guidance from your blood, higher self, and the land, rather than going through the stiff motions of what someone else told you to do or letting your ego’s agenda lead the way.
Through listening you activate the energetic ingredients within yourself that clarify your motivations and intentions for the ritual from a place that brings greater wellness into your life and the world.
When making a menstrual blood offering it’s important to practice consent and first ask the land, plants, elements, and place for permission to make the offering.
Next, you want to be clear about who you are offering your blood to, and for what purpose.
Lastly, you want to be intentional about what you are shedding through this bleed and what seeds you are planting.
To offer your menstrual blood opens a powerful portal, which is why it’s so important to clarify your motivation and intentions for your ritual.
The rule is when you open a portal, you must close it. You can do this by cultivating the energy of gratitude and giving thanks.
Opening a portal without closing it, or offering your blood without the proper motivation, is like leaving your car doors open and walking away for the day and coming back and wondering why all your stuff is stolen.
When you work with ritual and ceremony, being in right relationship to the process is key to creating more harmonic energetic signatures in your life and on the planet, as gracefully navigating the powerful forces you’re setting in motion.
