Unraveling the Patriarchy from the Womb
When I was struggling with symptoms related to my menstrual cycle, I went to hundreds of healthcare providers, none of whom helped me in any way. More often than not, they invalidated my experience and dismissed my symptoms, offering to prescribe antidepressants as a cure.
Can you relate?
For millennia, women have been dismissed. They’ve been told that they were crazy, or that their symptoms were all in their heads when seeking medical advice.
Recent studies have shown that the pain many experience during menstruation is equivalent to the pain men experience during a heart attack. And yet we are expected to function in the world, to push through it as if we’re fine, and we’re often made fun of for our emotional needs and mood changes related to that time of the month.
We live in a society that is designed to keep us sick, that values quick solutions and profit over everything else. This is reflected in our fast food, and fast-paced lifestyles, which have taken a toll on our bodies and the Earth.
This way of living doesn’t support slowing down, eating well, or fostering intimate relationships with ourselves or one another.
You shouldn’t have to be superhuman enough to endure the pain levels of a heart attack while carrying out your everyday duties in life. And you shouldn’t be made to feel dismissed and “unfixable” for the pain and symptoms you experience associated with your hormones and cycle.
Albert Einstein said we can’t solve a problem from the same energy in which the problem was created. This means we have to cultivate a new way of relating to ourselves and the world around us.
Although we may not be able to change the system in our lifetimes, we can change the way we interact and relate with the system in place.
One way to cultivate new ways of relating is to step out of the patriarchal view of seeing yourself as a set of problems to be solved and step into understanding yourself as a spirit in human form where all pieces of you, emotional, spiritual, and physical, are working in concert to create your lived experience.
Through this lens, symptoms are no longer seen as broken machine parts, but rather as carriers of messages from the wholeness of you, pointing to what needs deeper tending or support within your being.
Understanding these messages doesn’t just happen out of the blue. You have to learn how to listen to the language of your body speaking through the sensations and subtle energies you’re experiencing at any given moment.
This form of listening is an art that the Holy Trinity Blueprint of Womb Healing is built upon.
When you learn to listen, symptoms feel less and less like your body is attacking you. Your body becomes your friend and ally, and symptoms become signposts guiding you home, back into honoring and embodying who you truly are.
When you learn to listen, you begin to see how you’ve been unknowingly ignoring your own sacred needs and boundaries. When you become aware of these, through listening to what your symptoms are telling you, then you can begin to step into that honoring.
While it’s not always the case, very often, when our body's needs and boundaries are met, our bodies no longer need to communicate that something is wrong through pain and symptoms.
This is the journey of healing on the Wise Womb Medicine Path™ through the Holy Trinity Blueprint of Womb Healing, where you are guided to unravel the patriarchal ways of dismissing your needs and boundaries that you may have internalized, so you can create harmony in the way you relate to yourself and the world around you.
