Kambo Ceremony

A powerful ceremonial experience for release, renewal, and a deeper connection with yourself.

The Story of Frog Medicine

Deep within the emerald heart of the Amazon rainforest, nestled beneath towering trees and beside the sacred flow of crystalline rivers, dwells the mystical Kambo frog. Not an ordinary amphibian by any means, this vibrant green guardian holds ancient wisdom, a sentinel of powerful medicine that bridges the worlds of spirit and body.

For countless generations, indigenous tribes have honored the Kambo frog, turning to it for healing that reaches far beyond the physical—into realms unseen. The medicine of the Kambo is revered for its ability to pierce through the veils of illness, cleanse the spirit, and rejuvenate life force.

According to an ancient legend, there was once a shaman named Sapã whose village was stricken with a mysterious illness. Though Sapã was a keeper of great knowledge, no remedy could be found in his herbs or chants. Desperation took hold, and he set off on a vision quest, deep into the untamed wilderness, seeking guidance from the spirits of the jungle.

For days, Sapã fasted, prayed, and surrendered to the wisdom of the forest. In a dream, the spirit of the Kambo frog visited him, glowing with the light of a thousand stars. The frog shared its secret: a powerful medicine hidden within its own skin. Guided by the vision, Sapã found the Kambo frog the next day and carefully harvested its secretion, following the sacred instructions from his dream.

Upon applying the medicine to his skin, Sapã underwent an intense purge. The Kambo, with swift precision, cleansed his body and spirit of stagnation and toxins. The healing was immediate. Sapã returned to his people, bearing the gift of Kambo, and through this sacred frog medicine, he restored health and balance to the village.

The Sacred Science of Kambo

Kambo is a secretion produced by the Amazonian tree frog Phyllomedusa bicolor. It contains a complex combination of biologically active peptides that act on the human body in distinct ways. The physical response to Kambo is strong and unmistakable, which is part of why this medicine has been used ceremonially for generations.

Phyllocaerulein acts on the gastrointestinal system and contributes to the intense intestinal activity and purging that can occur during a Kambo ceremony.

Dermorphin interacts with opioid receptors in the body. It is one of the compounds that makes Kambo pharmacologically unusual and is part of the reason this medicine continues to be studied.

Adenoregulin interacts with adenosine receptors and is one of several peptides in Kambo that affect cardiovascular and other physiological processes.

The experience of Kambo is not simply about its individual compounds. It is the combined effect of the secretion, your body, the ceremony, and the circumstances in which the medicine is received.

The sweating, purging, changes in heart rate and blood pressure, altered sensation, and strong physical release are part of the traditional Kambo experience. The medicine asks something of the body, and the ceremony gives you a place to meet that experience with preparation, guidance, and care.

Kambo is powerful medicine. It deserves to be approached with respect, proper screening, and an experienced practitioner who understands both the physical intensity of the medicine and the ceremonial container surrounding it.

The Alchemy of Kambo

Kambo is a strong physical medicine that brings you into direct relationship with your body. The experience is intense and immediate, and many people seek it because they want to interrupt patterns of stagnation, feel clearer, and experience a sense of release.

Physical release: Kambo produces a strong purgative response that can include sweating, nausea, vomiting, flushing, changes in heart rate and blood pressure, and other intense physical sensations. The ceremony gives you support and care while your body moves through the experience.

Clarity and perspective: After the strongest effects have passed, many people describe feeling clear, lighter, present, or more awake. The experience can create a sense of distance from the mental noise that has been taking up so much space.

Emotional release: Kambo can bring strong emotions to the surface. You may cry, shake, laugh, breathe deeply, or experience emotions that have been held in the body for a long time. The ceremony gives those experiences room to move without requiring you to explain them.

A renewed relationship with yourself: Many people come to Kambo because they feel disconnected from themselves, overwhelmed by what they have been carrying, or ready to mark a transition in their lives. The ceremony creates a clear moment to pause, release, receive care, and listen to what is next.

The Medicinal Benefits of Kambo

Kambo is a potent natural medicine produced by the Amazonian tree frog Phyllomedusa bicolor. Its secretion contains a complex mixture of biologically active peptides that act on several systems in the human body.

The physical response to Kambo is powerful and immediate. It can produce sweating, flushing, changes in heart rate and blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, and a strong purging response. For many people, the physical intensity is part of the reason they seek this medicine.

The experience does not end with the purge. People often describe feeling clearer, lighter, more present, and more connected to their bodies afterward. The ceremony gives you space to move through the intensity, rest, receive care, and notice what feels different when it is over.

Kambo has a long history of traditional ceremonial use in Amazonian communities, and contemporary research continues to examine the biological activity of its peptides. The medicine is powerful and requires appropriate screening, preparation, and care throughout the ceremony.

Ceremonial Allies

In the Kambo ceremony, additional medicines may be woven into the experience according to what is appropriate for you and what the ceremony calls for. Each has its own qualities and place within the work.

Hapé (pronounced ha-peh) is a finely ground snuff traditionally made with tobacco and other plants. It is used in ceremony to ground the body, settle the mind, and bring your attention into the present moment. It can create a strong sensory experience through the breath, sinuses, and body and is often used before or alongside Kambo.

Sananga Eye Drops are made from the Tabernaemontana sananho plant and are applied directly to the eyes. The experience is intense and can include burning, watering, and temporary changes in visual sensation. In ceremony, Sananga is used to bring attention into the body and sharpen your awareness before or during the work.

The Rose is woven into the ceremony through herbal medicine, scent, ritual, and the rose bath. Rose brings a quality of tenderness and beauty to the experience and creates a counterpoint to the physical intensity of Kambo. It is part of how I tend the heart and the body throughout the ceremony.

Who This is For?

Kambo Ceremonies are for people who feel ready to make a shift and want a direct, embodied experience rather than more analysis.

You want to feel clearer and more present.
You have been carrying a lot mentally or emotionally and want an experience that helps interrupt the familiar cycle and bring you back into your body.

You feel stuck in a pattern.
You keep finding yourself in the same emotional, relational, or personal circumstances and want to create a clear point of interruption.

You are carrying grief, fear, or emotional weight.
You have experiences that are still affecting you and want space to move through them with support and care.

You are moving through a transition.
A relationship has ended, a chapter is closing, a new one is beginning, or you are at a point where you know something in your life needs to shift.

You want a strong physical experience.
You are drawn to Kambo because of its direct and powerful effect on the body and want to experience the medicine in a carefully held ceremonial setting.

You want a ceremonial experience that includes more than the medicine itself.
You want preparation, guidance, ceremony, nourishment, bodywork, and integration woven around the Kambo experience.

Each Kambo Ceremony is shaped around the person arriving and what they are bringing with them. The length and format of the ceremony are chosen according to your intentions, circumstances, health history, and what is appropriate for you.

What to Expect

What to Expect

A Kambo ceremony unfolds in phases, from preparation through the ceremony itself and into integration. The experience is shaped around you, your intention, your health, and the format you have chosen, whether that is a half-day ceremony, a full-day immersion, or a longer ceremonial container.

Preparation

Preparation begins before you arrive. You receive guidance for the days leading up to your ceremony, including what to eat and drink, what to avoid, and anything else that will help you arrive ready for the experience.

Setting Your Intention

We begin by getting clear about what brings you to Kambo and what you want to work with during the ceremony. Your intention gives the experience a direction and gives us something to return to as the ceremony unfolds.

Arrival & Grounding

When you arrive, we settle into the Temple and prepare the space. We ground, pray, tend the altar, and establish the container for your ceremony. You have time to arrive fully before receiving the medicine.

Hapé

When appropriate, Hapé is offered at the beginning of the ceremony. It is a finely ground snuff traditionally made with tobacco and other plants and administered into the nostrils. The experience is strong and immediate and brings your attention into your breath, body, and the present moment.

Sananga

Sananga may also be offered as part of the ceremony. The drops are applied directly to the eyes and produce an intense burning and watering sensation that passes with time. I guide you through the experience and give you space to settle before we continue.

Kambo

Kambo is applied to the skin through small superficial burns, and the medicine produces a strong physical response. You may experience heat, sweating, flushing, nausea, vomiting, changes in heart rate and blood pressure, shaking, dizziness, or other intense sensations.

I remain with you throughout the experience and attend to your physical and emotional state as the ceremony unfolds. You are given water, support, and whatever care is appropriate as you move through the strongest part of the medicine.

Closing & Integration

When the strongest effects have passed, we give you time to rest and return to yourself. We talk through what you experienced, what you noticed, and what feels important to carry forward.

For longer ceremonies, integration continues through the rest of the day with nourishment, bodywork, prayer, reflection, and other practices that support you in settling back into your body.

Day-Long & Three-Month Immersions

The longer immersions allow more of the medicine I carry to be woven into the experience. Depending on what you are working with, this may include ceremonial bodywork, meditation, prayer, shamanic practices, ritual, flower essences, herbal medicine, relational work, ancestral work, and other forms of tending.

The longer the container, the more room there is to work with what arises, rest, receive, and integrate before returning to ordinary life.

Ceremonial Experiences

"When I arrived for the Kambo ceremony with Naomi, I was carrying a lot of heaviness and pain, feeling stuck and unsure of how to move forward. I needed something strong to help me shift, and I felt drawn to Kambo as a different kind of medicine. From the moment I stepped into the space, Naomi’s presence was calm and grounding. She held the space so tenderly yet with such strength that I felt safe enough to open up and surrender. Her preparation was thoughtful and filled with care, easing my worries and guiding me into the ceremony with clarity.

The experience itself was intense, like being carried through a storm, but Naomi’s gentle guidance helped me stay centered. Her compassionate support allowed me to move through the difficult moments with grace. By the end, I felt a noticeable lightness and a deep sense of renewal, as if a weight had been lifted. It was a profound shift that touched not just my body, but my spirit as well."

- Julian Christopher

"I took part in the three month Kambo ceremonial program with Naomi, feeling the call for deep transformation to release some deeply entrenched patterns. The journey was intense and brought up a lot of emotions and physical purging, but the depth of healing I experienced was beyond what I could have imagined. Naomi’s gentle presence and the sacred space she created provided a container where I could truly let go and explore the process. She prepared me thoroughly for each ceremony, guiding me with care and helping me set intentions that kept me grounded through the intensity.

Over the course of the program, I noticed significant changes in my life—my energy began to flow more freely, and I could feel old blockages dissolving. The profound depth of healing continued to reveal itself long after the ceremonies had ended. Naomi's support was both grounding and transformative, making the whole experience truly life-changing."

Naomi Amaya Love

I am Naomi Amaya Love, Mystic Medicine Woman, Priestess, and Animal Communicator devoted to guiding you through the pain bodies and into the holy, whole, and healed self.

For more than three decades, I have walked the path of the healer. I have held thousands of ceremonies, guided others through life’s initiations, and witnessed the beauty of true transformation. My own life has been one of fire and devotion. I am the alchemy of trauma, shaped by the sacred fires of experience and guided by grace. The path has taught me that healing is not theory but embodiment, a living practice of returning to the essence of self. Every wound I have tended in myself has become medicine that now serves others.

I walk with those who feel the call to live in devotion, to move beyond grief, fear, and survival, and return to the truth of who they are. My role is to hold the sacred field of remembrance so you may live from your wholeness and strength.

Ceremonies, sessions, medicine days, retreats, mentorships, and apprenticeships offer pathways for healing and awakening. Each one meets you where you are and supports you in returning to harmony with your divine design.

I am attuned to the languages of the subtle, Earth, animals, plants, and the unseen. I listen for what has not been spoken and translate the wisdom that longs to be remembered. This is the bridge I offer, between the visible and invisible, between pain and divine embodiment.

Where the not-self dissolves, your true essence awakens. A sacred return to your holy, whole, and healed self.

Whether we meet in person or virtually, every experience is a ceremony of remembrance, a return to coherence, peace, and sacred alignment with your life.

I invite you to journey inward and awaken the holy, whole, and healed self within. Together we weave your dreams into the fabric of your life, leaving a legacy of truth, beauty, and grace.

In Devotion,
Naomi Amaya Love
